YouTube Downloads: Platform Permission and Copyright Are Separate

YouTube's Terms restrict downloading and automated access except in the circumstances they authorize. A video's public availability does not establish that an external downloader has that authorization. Separately, copyright and other rights can affect how a copy may be used.

Choose the official route for the actual task

An in-app offline copy is not automatically a portable file or a license to republish. Likewise, a creator's permission for their footage may not resolve the music rights or the service's access conditions.

Keep a decision record
